It's blueberry season!
Arlow Case Jr. began maple sugaring as a youngster with the help of his parents Arlow Sr. and Doris. He made maple syrup in his neighborhood backyard sugarhouse in Granby CT called "Arlow's Sugar Shack" for over 35 years. Arlow oversees the maple production from tapping to collecting, boiling to bottling, and is our tractor operator for the field crops as well as our best market salesman.
Susan has always loved growing flowers and plants, and she is the farm photographer, greenhouse grower, specialty foods producer, and uses her creativity with marketing and sales. She plans out the garden crops, plants and harvests many of the field crops, helps run markets, and conducts educational classes as well.
Arlow's Dad has always been a help and inspiration to keep the farming tradition alive. Everyone in the family from the children, grandkids, to cousins, as well as myriads of family friends over the years have helped us in our endeavor to keep farming
in Connecticut thriving
at Sweet Wind Farm!
Here is Arlow's Mom Doris and his uncle Ronnie tapping a tree circa 1940 in Tolland, MA. Arlow kept the sugaring tradition going into this generation.
